Please explain, is having a business account in Paypal is now mandatory in order to be able to use this plugin? Previous one works perfectly fine with just a regular Paypal account.

    Hi @bagiravg,

PayPal Payments implements the PayPal Commerce Platform and as of now, requires a PayPal Business account. We are looking into whether or not personal accounts could be supported as well, but there is currently no indication of this changing in the short term at least.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

OK, thank you for the answer. Than it is useless to me completely. What I don’t understand is why woocommerse wants to cut out a lot of people using it by stopping support to plugin that actually works for us and removing any possibility of normal work. You could have created a new one for those who really need it yet support the old one for other. Is it that hard?

    Hi @bagiravg,

You can still use the PayPal Standard integration that comes with WooCommerce to accept payments with PayPal. There’s also nothing wrong with continuing to use the PayPal Checkout Gateway plugin if it works well for you. But the product is sunset, will not receive any new features, and most importantly, will not be supported further after March next year.
The new PayPal Payments plugin aims to provide feature parity with the previous PayPal Checkout Gateway plugin, but this is not possible for every feature as the Checkout plugin is built on deprecated PayPal technology. Maintaining the old plugin further was not an option, but the new one will be supported for a while and receive more features over time.
The possibility to connect personal PayPal accounts is on our to-do list and is being discussed with PayPal, but we are not yet ready to share any commitments.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas
