• Hello!

I have been using the original Button theme on my wordpress.com blog for almost 2 years, and I love the “Default” setting for Blog Display under the Content Options setting. Now I’m migrating my blog to self-hosted www.ads-software.com space, and I took the opportunity to update my theme to Button 2. But the Button 2 theme doesn’t seem to offer the “Default” option for Blog Dispaly settings. Can this be turned on somewhere, or can I request the feature be added back in? I want super short post formats like Quotes to display fully and formatted appropriately, but I want my longer Standard posts to be displayed as excerpts. If this cannot be achieved through the theme customization options, is there a way to create the option for myself?

    Thank you for your help!

  • @ampersandams Content Options is a featured available on self-hosted sites through the Jetpack plugin. When you activate it, you should get the Content Options panel in your Customizer. Let me know how it goes.

    Hi @zoonini!

I have Jetpack installed, already. The issue wasn’t that Content Options wasn’t appearing, only that a particular option within that panel wasn’t available in Button 2 that IS available in Button (on wordpress.com). However, I discovered that the issue is that Button 2 does not support post formats, whereas Button does. So, I have switched my self-hosted site to Button, but now I have another problem: the Content Options panel no longer appears at all in Button on my self-hosted site, while it DOES appear on my wp.com site. And I can’t figure out where else in my dashboard those settings would be (Blog Display settings, Post Details settings, and Featured Image settings). I have looked through my wp dashboard settings as well as the Jetpack settings and don’t see them in either of those places either.

Why would the same theme have different customizer pannels for a self-hosted site than it does for a .com site??

The original version of Button is no longer being updated. The last version of Button is available via the SVN repo here; it includes Content Options.

If you have SVN installed, in your terminal, you can use this command to download it:

    svn co https://wpcom-themes.svn.automattic.com/button/
