We have a multi language site with WPML installed. The default language is French with English translations. We use WPML String Translations to translate the cookie button text from French to English. That works fine. The problem is the button text under the Customise Buttons settings tab always loads in English now. Even if we resave as French. It displays correctly on the frontend but the backend values are in English. So we have to switch all of those button labels back to French every time we save any other settings. Any chance this could get fixed?

    Hi @dpete,

The fields in the settings always modify the default language only. To add a translation, you need to go to WPML > String Translations menu and add translations to the button and banners there.

Please refer the guide here for detailed instructions.

The problem is when I go to Settings > Customise Buttons and change the Accept Button text field to “Accepter” for example and click save then reload the settings page it will show “Accept” the English translation. I’d rather not have to update all of those fields every time I want to change a setting.

Ah I see those button fields load whatever language is set as the default language in the user’s profile. Switching my profile to use the site default fixed the problem.
