Is it a problem with the number ( id’s ) used in the plugin, they might have changed. We’ve released an update for that right about 2 minutes ago. To apply: please remove the new database table wp_maxbuttonsv3 after deactivating plugin. Then reactivate again with the updated version to perform the migration again.

Maybe you can help me where I can find the new database table wp_maxbuttonsv3. Is that in my Filezilla?

We have the same problem, but it turns out it is the php version on the server side that is too old to properly run the latest version of MaxButtons. We now asked the host to run a higher php version and we assume the plugin will work again after that has been done.
Hope this info might help you.

Ditto on the PHP version; I really think that the plugin should not update if it isn’t going to work with the PHP version. Alerting you after the fact is none too helpful. I have no control over the PHP version from my hosting company.

I have deactivated the plugin and will probably delete it. A shame as it was a nice plugin, but I can’t afford to have things suddenly stop working like that. I’ve reverted to HTML-coding the buttons which is a pain. I’ll have to find an alternate plugin.

It’s basically not possible to check the PHP version before updating. This is due how WordPress does the updating.

If your hosting still runs PHP 5.2 and can’t upgrade you, then I suggest to find another hosting company to be honest. Not to bash, but 5.2 was end of life in 2011 and isn’t being patched nor maintained by the PHP community anymore and so might be exposed to who knows what.

@esther No the database can be found in something like your phpmyadmin . But be careful with that if you don’t know exactly what you are doing.

How do I check what my php my server host is using?

Forget that – Just found it! Sorry.

After upgrading the pluging no buttons appear on the site nor in de admin panel. Also I cannot add new buttons?

    PHP Version 5.4.39-0+deb7u2
Previously I upgraded the site to WP4.2.1
Restored an older plugin version (3.2) and buttons are back..

    Have you deactiviated/reactiviated MaxButtons?

This worked for me! Thank you!

The buttons disappeared from my site too after an upgrade. I did an upgrade to WordPress 4.2.1 and also ran plugin updates including maxbuttons. The buttons disappeared from my site. My hosting company changed the PHP version to 5.6 for me – but the buttons still didnt appear.

I ran a deactivate followed by an activate of the plugin and the buttons then re-appeared on my site.

Yes, I deactivated the plugin on the WordPress plugin admin screen. Then reactivated, and it works perfectly again.

Same here buttons disappeared from my site https://www.stepaheadsecurity.ie after updating to 3.03, I only came across problem due to a very slow week….
This worked for me after a few goes
Deactivate- reactivated the pluggin (don’t delete plugin) plus clear your browser history
my buttons started to work again…
