Sorry if this has been asked or is covered in FAQs. I don’t have time to read through everything to find it.

We already have a site using an old out-dated, non-wordpress classifieds system. One of our main complaints with that system is that customers could not buy items directly through the site like they can on Ebay.

Do you have a buy button?

  • Hi graftedin,

    Thanks for contacting me here.

Right now, AWPCP doesn’t have a “marketplace” function but it’s something very high on our list once we finish our custom post type migration. So, it’s not available today, but we’re going to work on it soon.

What is the time frame for the marketplace function? Will it allow each user to list their own paypal/paypal pro account?

I’m been developing for many, many years. How hard do you think it would be with the current set up for me to hack in a field that would allow the seller to add at least a paypal standard payment link? At least then we can have a buy button before you add the market place…

    Thanks

    Hi graftedin,

Right now, we do not have a specific timeframe for this feature. We’re migrating to a custom post type and that’s taking longer than expected because of the level of testing and regression we have to put into it not to break everyone’s existing installs. Once we’re confident that’s good and released, then we can consider working on this…but right now, any date I would provide you would be pure fiction.

If you have the right skillset, you can try hacking it in yourself. It will be a considerable amount of work for sure. There are shortcuts you can take to make it work, but getting it exactly “right” may take a lot of effort. We have a customization guide if you’re feeling up to the task, here: https://awpcp.com/documentation/customization-guide/

Sorry, to keep reopening this. I think we are warming up to your plugin though so hopefully it’ll be worth your while to keep dealing with me. ??

Back to the buy button. I was thinking the extra fields module would all us to add a paypal account for each seller and then I’d just need to customize the template to display this data from this field as a buy button. Does that sound to you like it would work?

If we buy the $199 premium pack are the updates fee for that also 75% off? So $50 per year is what we should expect?

No, this will not currently work that way. Extra Fields allows you to enter fields for users to enter data in, but we have no logic to turn that into a PP button and hide the underlying data…that’s more sophisticated than Extra Fields allows

Yes, that’s exactly how that works.
