I suddenly find an odd menu item in one of my sites:

In the menu it is titled ‘BWL Plugins,’ and on the page itself, ‘BestWebLayout.’

It shows an overview of installed plugins, but with broken screenshots.’

That page also has a ‘Systems Status’ button, which displays this information:

The only write-up I can find about it is on this site, which claims it is a new WordPress feature:

I see no way to uninstall BWL Plugins.

What is it? How do I get rid of it?

Update: I discovered where that menu items comes from.

I deactivated a plugin called Better Delete Revision:
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/better-delete-revision/

When I did so, the BWL Plugins menu item disappeared. Upon reacitvation, the menu item is back.

One of the authors of Better Delete Revision is BestWebLayout, which on the profile page explains that they have ‘added a menu item’:

Doesn’t look right to me, so I have now deleted Better Delete Revision.

I had the same experience. The BWL Plugins menu item appeared after updating Better Delete Revision. I agree that it (and whatever BestWebLayout is doing) seems sketchy to me, so I uninstalled Better Delete Revision for the time being.

it’s a sort of AD and it has been removed now. And the developer responsible, banned.

The whole code was checked and it’s secure.

I just discovered that ‘BWL Plugins’ has infiltrated the WP Plugin: Enhanced Search Form

The BWL Plugins menu item appeared out of the blue, and I systematically Deactivated all my plugins till the BWL Plugin vanished. The culprit was ‘Enhanced Search Form Plugin’
