Hello! It would seem that the bypass ad blockers feature isn’t compatible with Trellis and I’m just wondering if such support could be added? This is the only thing blocking us from fully switching from Google Analytics to your addon, sadly.

I’m using the Sage 10 theme if that matters.

    How to reproduce:

    1. Set up a Sage 10 site with Trellis
    2. Install WP-Statistics
    3. Enable bypass adblock
    4. Look in the console log on the website.

Here’s the console log error in question:
    GET https://staging.mysite.se/wp/srv/www/mysite.se/releases/20241101074530/web/app/uploads/274fbe897e.js?ver=14.10.3 net::ERR_ABORTED 404 (Not Found)

Here’s what the link in question should look like:

    https://staging.mysite.se/app/uploads/274fbe897e.js

So there seems to be an issue with the link having too much info in it.

This seems to be the only plugin we’ve used with such an issue. wpseo-redirects and WooCommerce store their files in the right place in the uploads folder and the client can access them just fine, for example.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi @hirngesicht,

I have forwarded this matter to our development team for further investigation.

Additionally, could you please confirm if the script loads correctly when the “Bypass Ad Blockers” option is disabled?

    Thank you for your cooperation!

Yes it works without it! ??
We’ve been using the script for quite some time now, and this issue surfaced when we discussed the differences in views/visitors between Google Analytics and your plugin. We’re looking at increasing our proven numbers to attract advertisers, and including people with adblockers would be a nice increase to that.

The issue only occurs when we enable the “Bypass Ad Blockers” feature is enabled. For some reason, the script loads just fine without that option enabled. In fact, every feature we’ve tried so far works just fine on Trellis, except this one feature.

    Thanks for your response, Matthew!

    Hello,

Thank you for reporting the issue. We’ve just fixed it in the development version, resolving the retrieval of the correct hashed tracker.js in the Bedrock boilerplate. The new version will be released at the beginning of the week.

You can view the commit here:

Much appreciated! I’ll be honest, we didn’t expect you to fix this so quickly!

Thanks for fixing this! Consider adding click tracking and this would quite possibly be the best plugin I’ve ever used.

    Dear @hirngesicht,

Currently, our Data Plus add-on supports Link and Download tracking, which allows you to monitor user interactions (clicks) with outbound links and file download links.

Could you please provide more information about the “click tracking” you mentioned?

Thank you for your time and input!

    Regards

I was unaware that outbound links were measured, we’ll probably subscribe to Data Plus for this functionality. We’ve previously had issues measuring ad clicks, and this should help with that!

I was mostly thinking about internal link measurements. How many users went from article 1 to article 2? How many people went from the front page to a product? Stuff like that. A heat map basically, to make it easier to understand user behaviour.

I realize that you can see how many views every individual page has, but you can’t see how many “second visits” a page has, as in another page was visited before it.

Thank you for sharing these details!

We will certainly take your suggestions into consideration. Hopefully, we can implement this feature in the near future.
