CA 5.2.1 automatic update not working

  • Hi,
    I am trying to update my wordpress site from 5.2 to 5.2.1 using the CA version.
    I have my wordpress install in public_html not in public_html/wordpress. When I try to use the automatic install I get the following error:

    Downloading update from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/release/en_CA/wordpress-5.2.1.zip…

    Unpacking the update…

    Could not copy file.: wordpress/wp-includes/class-wp-query.php

    Installation Failed

    Notice that it is trying to copy the file to wordpress/wp-includes and since there is no wordpress folder it is failing.

    I have used automatic updated on sites previously with the CA version and have not had this problem. So, it looks like there is something wrong with the CA install script that it is trying to install in the wordpress folder rather than the root even when there is no wordpress folder.

  • you need to fix your wp file permissions using ftp or your hosts file manager.

    All files should have chmod set to 644 . All folders should be 755. wp-config.php should be 600
