• Hi
I’ve tried re-installing this plugin, deactivating everything, deleting all files (done nothing to do the database yet out of ignorance) but nothing I’ve tried has been fixing this issue

It’s gotten to the point where I’ve looked for alternatives though I really like WP Super Cache and it works perfectly, and has been for years, so I really don’t want to change anything that’s working

The preload feature lately’s been getting stuck after preloading a few pages (usually 50-60 pages out of 400). It gets stuck and I suddenly can’t cancel it. The pages that had been cached up to that point are in fact cached, but the plugin then stops working and eventually I get an email saying the preload’s been restarted. Even after getting that email the preload is still stuck (hasn’t been restarted) and I can’t do anything about it.

Now. I’ve completely deleted the plugin and reinstalled it and the preload page looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/uLGY8Sp.png

So the plugin’s caching feature is actually deactivated and yet it’s saying it’s preloading posts 0 to 100, but it isn’t really preloading anything either. I can’t cancel this either and it’s been like this for about 20-30 minutes now.

If I turn caching on it looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/aeeqUoU.png
Still preloading and can’t be cancelled. Button to start the preload says “Cancel preload” and clicking it does nothing

What is going on here? I can’t delete / reinstall the plugin to make it work and when it actually does work after about 40-50 pages it gets stuck and can’t be cancelled again. It doesn’t cache all the pages and when it gets stuck it’s impossible to unstuck

I’ve tried turning debugging on but I have no idea what to look for and right now I can’t even get preload to even start to try debugging it again

Would really appreciate any help as this is affecting our traffic as our site’s not that fast without the cache
    Thank you in advance!
    Johan

Just got stuck at page 72 again…. Preloading working fine until page 72 and then stop. Now I can’t cancel it or anything at all

This keeps happening. 6 hours after being stuck at 72 it finally resumed, got to 180 and was stuck again for another several hours. In the morning I saw that it had gotten to 184 but was again stuck. Left for work and 4 hours later, it now did all the pages (400), but it seems to keep getting stuk like this at various places during the preload

No idea what the issue could be or how to debug this to know what is going on? I have debugging turned on but no idea what to look for in the logs?
    Thank you again!

I’m not sure why it stops at 72 but if you remove the bot user agents from the “Rejected User Agents” textarea. As bots visit your site they’ll cache pages.

What could make it stuck and not successfully cache a particular page for hours? Is there something I can look for in particular in the debug logs? Thank you!

I honestly don’t know, sorry. The plugin is supposed to schedule the next job to grab the next page, and in most cases it doesn’t. By removing the bots as I suggested above you’ll find that a lot of your pages will be preloaded by those bots visiting pages on your site.

Can it have something to do with the backend? Such as the server’s suhosin-values or perhaps max_execution_time or similar? Anything that could cause WP Super Cache to freeze on various pages for hours and hours? Takes literally days to preload my website right now and it keeps getting stuck on various pages. Haven’t had this issue before and I haven’t done anything that I can see could have caused this. Wondering if perhaps the webhost’s done something that could cause this behavior?
    Thank you again Donncha!

I don’t know, sorry @nhrz. Unless your site is particularly slow preloading shouldn’t be necessary as visitors to the site will naturally cache parts of the site.
