    Hello,
    how are you?
I use KeyCDN and Optimus but I cannot use Cache Enabler as it doesn’t work with my cookie plugin (Eu Cookie Law)
So I need to use another plugin for caching, in this case Wp rocket, that now supports webp.

My question is: with Optimus do I have to activate the extension for having image.jpg.webp or I have to use image.webp?

Thank you very much for your help.
    Kind regards,

The “Append .webp extension” option is only required if you’re using a plugin that requires it.

    Thanks Coreyk,
unfortunately I don’t know which extension work for Wp Rocket.
    Have a nice day.

    EnFi,

    Thanks seriousintegrated,
are you using image.webp with ShortPixel and WP Rocket?
    Thank you very much!

Yes, I had much pulling-of-hair with this problem of .webp images and caching.

I tried Optimus HQ and really liked it but could not getting it working with WP Rocket. They make you use KeyCDN Cache Enabler, which was 20% slower than WP Rocket for my site on the pingdom score. And Optimus did not work with WP Rocket. So I had to go to WP Rocket + ShortPixel. I wish Optimus supported WP Rocket, it would be a great combination.

Optimus is not limiting the support to any caching plugin. Optimus simply creates a WebP version of the different images (original, thumpnails, etc) with the extension .webp in the same directory as the other images.

    Hi seriousintegrated,
    thanks for your feedback!
    I had some problems too.

I pay for Key CDN and Optimus, but I cannot use in combination with Cache Enabler because it doesn’t work with Eu Cookie Law. They didn’t provide a real support, only suggest me to change cookie plugin, and I cannot.

I have asked to the support of Lite Speed Cache plugin if Optimus could work with Lite Speed and they answered that it could work only with the extension image.jpg.webp

So now I’m still with Wp Rocket. From the version 3.3 they have webp support, I think. But I would like to know if I have to use image.jpg.webp or image.webp

And of course I would like to know before converting and creating many images.

    But I didn’t understand yet…

I will have a look at ShortPixel too!

    Have a nice day!
    Thank you!

    Hello @seriousintegrated,
    how are you?
Just a question, are you sure that WP Rocket is caching your webp images. Because today I have seen that it seems not released yet the support for caching webp images.

It should be in the 3.3 version but I had a look on Trello here https://trello.com/b/CrUcz6Jy/wp-rocket-roadmap and they added a 3.4 version with webp cache.
    I don’t know.
    What do you think?
    Thank you!
