Hello, thanks for a great plugin. I really like using it. It makes my job easier. Now here’s my question, I’m trying to calculate two fields that contain conditional logic and are only shown when another field is selected “Yes”. Otherwise, they remain hidden. So, is there a way to make the fields a part of the equation?

    Thanks,

    Hi Tectonic,

I hope I understood your setup correctly, because my answer is little bit too simple:

If the 2 fields that are going to be part of a calculation, why not also have the same condition for the calculated field? In other words, show the calculated field (the numeric field that will do the calculation) only to be displayed when that other field is selected “Yes”.

I did not try my suggested solution, but I can’t imagine why that won’t work…

@nick6352683 thanks for the quick reply. One thing I didn’t mention on my first post is that the calculation field itself is outside of a group and is located below the group that it calculates. The fields being calculated are in a group with / without conditional logic.

    The fields without conditional logic:
    – Calculate just fine and I get a tally.
    – The field type is a “Radio Button” with a “value : label” configuration.

    The fields without conditional logic:
    – Are not being calculated unless the criteria to show them is triggered.
    – Including fields that are not shown into the calculation will result in a calculation value of 0 (zero).
    – The field type is a “Radio Button” with a “value : label” configuration.

I hope this is a clearer explanation.

For those of you interested in the answer.

This issue was fixed by updating to the latest version of the plugin 1.3.0 where the developers fixed an “’empty needle’ bug that emits PHP warning messages to the error log in certain field groups”.
