Calculating based on weight + cart total

    I have a website where they are trying to use Flexible Shipping to calculate costs based on the cart total + the weight of certain items. Most of their items are light (under 1lb) and so calculating on ‘cart total’ is working fine. We have set different dollar amounts to dictate whether the person pays shipping or if their order is free. That works without issue!!

    We also want to add a $40 (surcharge, essentially) for when a custom buys one of heavy books being sold (over 20lbs) and I am not sure we can use the table to calculate that too OR do we need to purchase the pro version? Can the free or pro version handle that?

    Hoping you can steer me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

    In the free version of the plugin we have implemented 3 parameters. These are:
    always
    weight
    price

    In your case, the weight parameter is important for you. It takes into account the weight of the whole cart, not of a single product. If it is enough for you to set a rule like: If the weight of the cart is over 20 lbs, then add $40 dollars shipping surcharge, then the free version is enough for you. If you want to use more precise parameters and indicate, for example, a specific item, which in your case is heavy books, then you need the PRO version.

    Thanks so much for the quick reply. Just to clarify, can we do BOTH? The cart total is actually more important to us, but we want to include the weight total calculation when someone orders heavy items.

    Basically we want to calculate shipping by cart total but we also want to include another rule where IF the cart were over 20lb then the additional charge is added (even if the customer met the free shipping threshold).

    Would the PRO version do that, even if the free version does not? Thanks again!
