Calendar permalinks

I am developing a photo site that will be posted to no more than once a day. Is there a way to have the links in the WP Calendar point directly to that day’s post? As it is it links instead to the day’s archives, and you must click thru twice to get there…

I’m so-so at coding php but know the solution lies in the general-template.php file. I’ve already changed the calendar to display photo thumbnails in place of calendar dates. Now it’s getting those links to point directly to the post instead of all the posts for that day (which will only be one).
