Have been using the calendar plugin for a while and it’s great, really does the job however, yesterday there was an update we think and since then when clicking on plugins it take forever to load in. Spoke to host company presuming it was them and they said no and to try and activate/deactive plugins one by one to find the problem. Turns out it is the calendar plugin.

Also our backup software can’t backup because again the calendar plugin is stopping it.

what’s changed? and can you change it back again please?

  • I was able to activate the plugin page with repeated attempts. At least 50% of the time I would end up with a blank page or 503 error. Once I was able to access the plugin page, I was able to activate and deactivate the plug-in, though it sometimes took several attempts to deactivate due to time-outs/503’s

Thanks @zhiv9, I will try this, and let you know if I ever get it to work without timing out.

I’m having the same issue as everyone else and it looks like the issue is with the API connection to the https://update.time.ly/update & https://cdn.update.time.ly/updates/updates.json end points. The code sets the default to a 15 second timeout for each so that is 30 seconds at least of load time.

I can’t fix the issue but was able to improve my admin dashboard loading by editing:
    all-in-one-event-calendar/lib/calendar/updates.php

Look for the _get_data_from_endpoint function and change the timeout variable from 15 to 1.

It helped the issues a lot.

Thank you @contemplate. I was having the same issues as everyone else but was getting bad gateway timeout errors in several wp-admin pages. I tried your suggestion of changing the timeout variable in updates.php and so far, everything is much better.

Hopefully the coders at time.ly can get this worked out soon.

@zhiv9 – I tried to get the plugin page to load 20-30 times with no success (504 Gateway timeout errors).

@contemplate – I changed the timeout variable from 15 to 1, and now instead of it taking 30 seconds to load an admin page it only takes about 5 seconds and I can now access the plugins page as well. Thanks for the temporary solution.

Hey all, we are looking into this right now, and we’ll get back with an update ASAP.
    Thanks for your patience,

@aristotel_timely – Very nice! Thank you.

Same problems with dashboard unresponsiveness since last upgrade. Running WordPress 4.4.2 and All-in-One Event Calendar 2.3.8. Disabling the plugin returns dashboard to normal responsiveness. I am unable to edit event details in any event and can not access Advanced menu. Clicking on event detail sections or Advanced settings menu does nothing.

    Hi everyone.

As @contemplate mentioned, the API connection to https://update.time.ly/update was really slow and that was indeed the reason for the slowness you all experienced in the Dashboard.

I investigated the issue and found out that the PHP-FPM process in the update.time.ly server was down. I restored the service and now seems OK. I changed some configurations in the server and hope it won’t crash again.

Special thanks to @contemplate for tracking and pointing out the problem!

Delighted that the issue has been resolved – across all of our sites that use it. Was getting to the point yesterday where we were contemplating a different plugin but love the look of this one so much. Thank you all for help/assistance and ultimate resolution. And just glad it wasn’t just me for a change ??

Yep, resolved for me too on 2.3.8 and 4.4.2. Thanks @contemplate.

Thank you @contemplate and @calvin!! Back up and running with Time.ly!
