    Hi there!

I enjoyed the Events Calendar plugin, but after the update to 4.2, I get a HTTP ERROR 500 message on the calendar and the separate events. This is on a live website, so it’s important this issue gets solved quickly…

I’m using WordPress 4.0.8 and PHP version 5.4.4-14+deb7u9. I can’t update, because i want to keep using another older plugin. Not the most recent version, but this should work (The Event Manager requires WordPress version 3.9 or higher..). I already disabled all plugins, no effect.

I would appreciate some help ??

    Best,
    Lino

    Any help?

    Hi there!

Sorry to hear you’re experiencing issues with your upgrade–I’d be happy to help you with this!

If you’re able to access your site’s FTP, you may wish to try connecting to your FTP server, opening your site’s WordPress directory, navigating to the /wp-content/plugins/ folder, and deactivating your plugins by temporarily renaming each plugin folder (I like to simply add a digit to the end of each directory name, such as “1”). Once your plugin folders have been renamed, you can attempt to load your site in your browser once more, then rename your plugins back to their previous names in your FTP client. They’ll remain deactivated in your WordPress install after a refresh, and you can apply any remaining or previously failed updates at this time before reactivating your plugins, one by one to ensure there are no problems as you go.

Give it a try, and let us know if you’re able to make any progress!

    Hey Caroline,

Thanks for your response. This was the first thing I tried, without effect. The calendar still shows a error page.

I’m in the process of looking for another (working) plugin, but I liked the events calendar’s look and I don’t look forward to transferring all the events… Would be great if you could suggest a solution..

Hi Caroline. I had the same problem.

I managed to restore my client’s website quickly and easily by manually updating the plugin files via FTP. I replaced only the new and updated files, and the website came back online without issue. However I may have just been lucky in doing this, and problems may still arise.

There has been a recommended solution offered by Modern Tribe, and I recommend you follow their instructions. In short; they tell you to manually roll back your plugins to the previous release, and then update them again, but in a specific order.

    Good luck.

Thanks so much for chiming in, @orchid Design–took the words right out of my mouth! ??

@linomxxrt, please do check out the link they’ve shared above and follow the provided instructions. If you’re still experiencing issues after this, let me know and we’ll look into how we can proceed from there.

    Thank you!
