First off, I have read and tried the fixes on the other posts…

Call to undefined function json_decode() in /** on line 126

This line in the Error Log is coming up and the installer.php is a blank white screen.

I am duplicating from / to the same server, so all databases and tech are the same versions. I am using the latest version of Duplicator (Free Version) and have been using Duplicator for months for dozens of jobs.

I have encountered these errors on multiple builds / archives and on different servers I have tested on as well.

Something I am missing here? Do i have to buy pro for Duplicator to work anymore?

  • Hey @mattx,

No. You you do not need to buy pro, that will not fix this issue, in fact you would see they same message in pro. What you will however need to do is contact your host or server admin and let them know that the version of PHP you are running does not support json_decode or has been disabled on the servers your running.

The json_decode method is a core PHP method, but a very very small set of hosts sometimes have this disabled for one reason or another. Do you happen to know what version of PHP you are on?

    Thanks~

That version of PHP will definitely have json_decode, it looks like your host has done something to disable it…
