• Hello from Malta. I have the title problem with my wordpress (jinnie-femme.eu), where I receive emails for incomplete scans. Based on previous posts, I’ve ran the connectivity testing tool and the results are the following:

    Wordfence connectivity tester
DNS lookup for noc1.wordfence.com returns: 69.46.36.8

    STARTING CURL http CONNECTION TEST....
    Curl connectivity test passed.

    STARTING CURL https CONNECTION TEST....
    Curl connectivity test passed.

Seems that everything is ok. I’ve just made a new scan and got the same error (even though 2 minutes ago, the test was passed):

[May 20 21:18:30] Contacting Wordfence to initiate scan
[May 20 21:18:30] Scan terminated with error: We received an error response when trying to contact the Wordfence scanning servers. The HTTP status code was [404] and the curl error number was [0]

Hi again. I had found a similar older article and replied there, but the admin asked me to create a new thread, but still I don’t have any answer. Our site, sill cannot be scanned and it’s not secured.

    Any help?

Do you get this error consistently when you try to do a scan manually?

    Regards,

    Mark.

All the time. Scheduled and manual scan.

I am getting the same error.
Wordfence Live Activity: Call to Wordfence API to resolve IPs failed: We received an error response when trying to contact the Wordfence scanning servers. The HTTP status code was [0] and the curl error number was [7] and the error from CURL was: couldn't connect to host

Mark, do we have any information about it? Can I provide more info if possible, in order to solve it?

I am no longer getting this error message, which makes me wonder if it was likely a problem on wordfence’s side that has been resolved. I have no explanation.

@snikolaidis are you getting the error still?

This error probably occurs when you’re viewing live traffic, because that’s when we make the call to resolve IP’s.

    Regards,

    Mark.

Yes, all the time. As I said, in both scheduled and manual scans (I’ve just sent the activity log to you)

    OK thanks.

Here’s what we’re going to do about this: We’re going to add monitoring that tests that API call to see if it is intermittently failing. If we find it’s failing we’ll fix it.

    Regards,

    Mark.

Mark, hi. After one week, I tested and the problem still exists. I’ve sent an email with the activity log.

Did you manage to find anything? Thanks!

After 2 weeks, and the problem still remains in both scheduled and manual scan:

[Jul 15 16:08:29] Scheduled Wordfence scan starting at Tuesday 15th of July 2014 04:08:29 PM
[Jul 15 16:08:39] Contacting Wordfence to initiate scan
[Jul 15 16:08:39] Scan terminated with error: We received an error response when trying to contact the Wordfence scanning servers. The HTTP status code was [404] and the curl error number was [0]
[Jul 16 12:29:08] Contacting Wordfence to initiate scan
[Jul 16 12:29:08] Scan terminated with error: We received an error response when trying to contact the Wordfence scanning servers. The HTTP status code was [404] and the curl error number was [0]

For once more, I’ve emailed the activity log, although I believe that there will be no help at all… |-(

Hi Stratos Nikolaidis, I am wondering if, either your issue has been resolved or anyone has got back to you to help or let you know what is going on. It has been over a month now and you have been very patient.

I am also receiving a similar error:
[Jul 28 16:49:32] Call to Wordfence API to resolve IPs failed: We received an error response when trying to contact the Wordfence scanning servers. The HTTP status code was [0] and the curl error number was [6] and the error from CURL was: Couldn’t resolve host ‘noc1.wordfence.com’
[Jul 28 16:52:57] Call to Wordfence API to resolve IPs failed: We received an error response when trying to contact the Wordfence scanning servers. The HTTP status code was [502] and the curl error number was [0]

Because I have set up email alerts to let me know if anyone has attempted to log in or use the lost password, this morning I woke up to 9,550 emails – yes, you read that correctly! 9,550 emails, to let me know how many attempts to access my site had taken place, over a 6 hour period.
Can someone help me please, I am getting nervous and am unable to even look at blocked IP’s. thank you in advance.
