I have “lock out after how many forgot password attempts” under Firewall – Brute Force Protection set to “1” due to spams. Now, I accidentally locked out myself as a user.

    But I can’t unlock out.

Funny thing is I went under Wordfence > Tools > Live Traffic but it only says a Failed Login attempt as shown here – https://share.nmblc.cloud/e9ddebc0 and there’s no “Unblock IP” button but only “Block IP” button available which indicates I’m not blocked.

And under Wordfence > Firewall > Blocking my IP is not listed (only Russian IPs are blocked). See my sshot – https://share.nmblc.cloud/934a1a7d

I even went under .htaccess to check if my IP is blocked there but no.

Where else can I check to unlock myself out?

The message I get when accessing my site is “You’ve been banned from this site” and I’ve cleared cache and cookies and still getting this message. It’s somehow intermittent, though. Sometimes I can still access my site. I’m using Firefox 131

    Hi @lfrm,

If an IP is still blocked, you should be offered an “UNBLOCK IP” button in Live Traffic. If it’s returned to “BLOCK IP” (and you don’t see an IP on the blocking page any more) then the block has already been lifted. You would have been blocked for the amount of time specified in “Amount of time a user is locked out” in the Brute Force settings or “How long is an IP address blocked when it breaks a rule” in the Rate Limiting settings depending on the rule that was broken.

We generally recommend somewhere around?3-5?for login attempts and forgotten passwords in?Wordfence > All Options > Brute Force Protection, counted over?4 hours, with a?30 minute lockout. 1 attempt is a bit too strict and open to erroneously blocking a legitimate user.

If the above information doesn’t help, I see you have a country block set on your screenshot which is a Premium feature, which we’re unable to assist with here on the free forums so I would recommend opening a support ticket at?https://support.wordfence.com?that your license gives you access to.

Just in case you posted here because you can’t access Premium support, please send an email to?lockout @ wordfence . com?and provide the email address or username that is associated with the account so that we can get you the assistance you need.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.
