• Hello again, this is for a use similar to excerpt, but that allows to show images and such, and for that I need it to be allowed to have editing properties, so I was wondering if a custom field can be cracked to be something like a post field, that allows images, coding, and big text inputs…

it’s another thing related to my other inquiry in another post here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/111709?replies=1

basically it’s the same use… but I am still searching options out there…

  • I still don’t understand your other post’s question… is this somehow the same thing?

You can do just about anything you’d like with custom fields. But it’d be helpful to better understand what it is you truly want to do — odds are, there’s a plugin that already does it.

    Have a look at Using_Custom_Fields.

I’ve already seen that, thanks anyway.

You see, custom fiels only let me insert very short text, in a small box, and I can’t use the image editor to insert images, or have the editing tools that the post field has: like Bold, colors, italic, blockquotes and such….

I was referring my other post because I want basically the same: have an aditional post field alike. In my other topic I want to use the same post field divided in two by “the more text”. And then use conditionals to recall one or another.

If you might know Greymatter Engine you may understand what I am talking about… It’s a CGI engine, which practically has these both: [main text] and [more text] fields. That’s why I feel weird because I can’t find that function in wp.

And this is all different from just using the_content vs. the_excerpt somehow?

yeah, the_excerpt also has a limit of words, and doesn’t allow images and I am afraid even html.

See? now you’re sharing more and we’re getting places!

    Check out the_excerpt_reloaded.

I need more than 120 words, but I can use the plugin in other areas =o

    thanks anyway…

The plugin will let you have as many words as you want. Check the very first parameter listed on that link.

    Best of luck.
