Can a user choose to hide from the Directory Listing?

Yes you can enable “Allow users to hide their profiles from directory” at UM Settings -> General -> Account.

Can the “Hide My Profile from Directory” setting be selected by the user when filling out the registration form?

If you try to add a radio field with the meta_key to the Registration form you will get this error message:

Your meta key is a predefined reserved key and cannot be used

This code snippet will remove this limitation of “Account page only” for the meta_key and you will find a new UM Predefined field in the Forms Builder:
Hide my profile from directory

Once I add the snippet, should the field appear under predefined fields? I don’t see it and still get an error if i try to add a radio button for the field. Thanks.

The predefined button with the label Hide my profile from ...
will be available when you refresh the UM Forms Builder page.
