• I made a rookie error when I set up my first WordPress site a year ago. I had never heard of Child themes and so I made design changes within the parent theme files. It was so long ago I don’t even remember which files I changed. I now have 17 updates pending and I’ve had to ignore them because obviously all my changes will be lost. It’s been fine up to this point, but now I see strange things happening to my text-wrapping and I’m assuming its related to the need-for-updates.

My question is – can I copy over the entire directory and rename it as a child? I know it’s recommended that only the changed files fall under the child theme but I really don’t want to have to go through every line of code on every page to see where and what I changed last year.

How would plugins work in the above scenario?
Can I leave the altered files in the Parent Theme or should I install a new ‘clean’ version from scratch?
