can anybody recommend a good host?

  • hi all,

    i hope that this is not an annoying question that turns up all the time, but can anybody recommend a good hosting company? i wish to host my WordPress blog–i am switching from the free WordPress.com hosting–as well as my related business site. i have looked around some, but the analyses i find on the Web are all stuffed with glimmering reviews that the hosts clearly write for themselves.

    I use my own colocated server, now. Free ??

    I have used godaddy, aso, and lunarpages, to name a few.

    Of those three, aso stood out. Best speeds, best service (when I needed it, which wasnt very often), most bells and whistles..

    i guess ASO and AEY look pretty good. i wondered about AEY being based in Europe, but i see that they have data canter and call center in California. anybody else have any observations on those two companies?

    this shouldn’t matter so much, but both of those hosts use clean, contemporary visual style on their home pages. it’s hard to put much faith in a Web host with clunky old Web design.

    again, thanks very much. this is much more helpful than all those fake reviews that you see online.

    OK, i have snooped around some more think that i am going to go with small orange.

    does anybody else have any opinions about them?
