• Hi, I signed up for a free blog on a site that uses wordpress MU to create and manage the blogs. I’ve had my blog up and running for awhile now and wanted to use my google webmaster tools account to get it listed and go from there. My problem with google webmaster tools is that when I try to do the HTML verification file method by creating a page, it removes the “.” right before the html in the subject and google is unable to verify it. Any ideas on what I could do?

  • If you’re using a free blog from WPMU install, contact your Site Administrator. Most probably by now, the Site Admin has already (or should already have) set up SEO applications which include auto generation of site.xml’s for each of the new blogs that are created in that WPMU installation.

I found another thread addressing this topic, which was closed by the moderator, saying it is not a WordPress question, but a Google question.

I can’t verify my blog because I don’t know where to put the meta-tag on my WORDPRESS site! I tried in the theme editor and it still won’t verify.

so, any suggestions as to where/what page I can place the meta-tag on my WORDPRESS site to verify it?

You would put it in your theme’s meta tag section, probably in header.php. Since you may wish to switch themes in the future, I’d recommend using the html file version of the verification and place it in your main WordPress folder:
