• From what I can see, it looks like WP has a built in calendar function?
Or do I have to use specific plugins for this?

I’ve tried various plugins…. but none works, works very poorly or is just bad design.

All I need to do, is to pull out event details and display them in a list – NOT IN A CALENDAR.

Displaying events inside calendar GUI is not really usefull.

    What to do?

  • Try looking for an events management plugin.

As I’ve said, there are many calendar plugins – and many bad ones.
Are there any tutorials on how to use the built in calendar functions?

    Is there one?

What built in calendar functions are you talking about?

The only built in calendar function I know of makes a small little calendar which shows links to the days on which you made posts. It doesn’t do any sort of event management.

Ah. I’ve just seen references to the WordPress calendar – the “native calendar”. But I’ve never found any calendar function.

So I guess that explains it ??

Could anyone suggest a good event plugin which can display events in an ordered list?

Look in Admin/Appearance/Widgets. It’s a very basic calendar that just displays links for every date when at least 1 post was published.

I’ve not come across any good event plugins myself but I have been wondering whether it would be possible to create a basic event display using a custom page template and posts filed within a specific category. Just not got around to actually writing the thing yet.
