Hi! Thank you for your plugin. Just testing it to use in my theme.

Is there any way to open share links in the popup? Now they open in a new tab, that not so nice, I think ^)

And one more suggestion, would be good to have an option to counter with 1 and more shares.

    Hi Alex,

no, there is actually no way to use it with a popup at the moment. Popups generally caused more trouble in the past and are more or less a relic of the 90ies. Not all share services fit into the same window size, a lot of people use ad blockers nowadays and/or have popups disabled completely. Not even starting with the use on all the different mobile devices forcing you to use whole JavaScript libraries just to open it correctly on all devices. All the while popups are an accessibility nightmare. Long story short: Not worth the time and effort. We might add an option for it in a future release (including a decent warning that you might block out people from using the buttons), but the default behavior will stay as it is.

    Regarding your suggestion:

And one more suggestion, would be good to have an option to counter with 1 and more shares.

I probably did not understand it correctly. Could you elaborate a bit more what your suggestion is? Did you mean to only show share counts, if you have at least one share? (-> hiding it, if it is zero)

    Cheers,

    Hi JP,

Yup, you spelled out my last lines right, I myself hardly got what I wrote
I meant what you said ??

As for the popup, my personal thoughts – people got used already to see a popup appears when clicking on social share button and not leaving the current page, instead of open it in a new tab. Maybe I’m wrong.
Anyway, I can add it though javascript, as well as the popup size depends on the button clicked. Don’t worry.

    Thank you.

    Hi Alex,

ok, good. ?? I’ll put it on my to-do list to add an option to hide share counts that are 0.

Regarding the popup issue: If you come up with a nice working separate JavaScript solution that works with all buttons, we are more than happy to add your code as an optional setting to our plugin.

    Cheers,
    JP

Oh yes please, I would also appreciate an option to hide counts that are 0. Especially when using OpenShare Count and old posts therefore have 0 Twitter shares.

    Hi there,

both options have been added in version 4.3.0.

On the design tab you now find the option to open the links in a popup and on the statistic tab you can choose to hide share counts that are zero.

    Cheers
