    Hello everyone!

    I downloaded a template from https://www.amazingwordpressthemes.com and completely from the inside-out did a total customization of it that it looks completely different from the original. I would like to add a self credit to myself at the footer along with the original designers, so it would read “Powered by WordPress and theme by such and such” with “theme customized by me” along with all the credits.

    The blog is self hosted and I have complete access to all the files. When I look in footer.php I see only this:
    <?php $Q07bb58d9153be4308b429fb46228e11d=’XcyxCsIwFIXh3ae4ZDdZrBWJKTg7FBScr01sCm3uJS2G+PS2igjO5/xfZTSbmpKLzsIxw5Wi5ejGEdZw8W5wUEd6dPazagQf3f0g/DTxXqmUksQBn11o0zeclmqUDQ3C/LS3pRWa2f1XGLPF3BOGOWIMWd56ahdBbYpity1LJcyZQtfAaT4tilZsdMWeVy8=’;eval(gzinflate(base64_decode($Q07bb58d9153be4308b429fb46228e11d))); ?>

    I’m perplexed because as I was customizing the blog everything was so straight forward, but the footer.php just has me wondering, “what?!”

    I thank you in advance

  • that’s called obfuscated code — its there to try to prevent you from removing the credits or any ads that might be in the footer.

    the real solution is not to use themes that do that, and we dont like to link to sites that provide themes like that either. free advertising for shmucks, ya know …

    Aw man, really? I had no idea I was doing the wrong thing by adding their link, I thought they were ‘good folks’ and I was trying to be helpful by providing where my template from. I apologize, I hope a moderater of the forum can remove the link.

    Is there a better source for templates that I can do my own customization and add my credits to the list at the footer?

    Thanks for the help

    ohh its ok, its not the end of the world ?? you had the best of intentions after all.

    as for other themes.. sure ??

    Thanks big time. By the way, can’t I just write my own footer.php so that I can add my link at the bottom? Or is it rooted more deeply than that?

    Hello! I found the solution, I just took a footer.php file from the default WordPress template and overwrote the footer.php of the downloaded template. I can add anything I want now.
