Can I add old posts to my blog??

Hi, I have only just installed wordpress. Prior to this (just over a month) I have been keeping a diary on my PC in wordpad and was wondering if it was possible to upload these posts which I have made so that they appear as being written at the date that I actually wrote them rather than the date I uploaded them to wordpress?

Any help would be much appreciated!
