I am still trying to find the ‘new user’ spam blocking technique that suits me.

I now get lots of new users waiting pending my approval to ‘get a username’ (according to the emails I get from wordpress, from my site).

My thought is that if they haven’t commented they’re spam so I don’t want them.

Is there a plugin or a config I can use to block new users: you can’t sign up unless you make a post?

And/or is that a sensible strategy? (If I can implement it)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

If you already set up all the logins you need, you can simply disable registration completely for new users:

    1. Go to WP admin dashboard, click?Settings?? General.
    2. On?Membership?settings, uncheck?Anyone Can Register.

Besides, to reduce spam registrations, there are many security/geolocation plugins on WP plugin repository. All you need to do is to find which one suits your needs the most. Going forward, these plugins have many options, such as:

    • Create custom login pages/forms
    • Set conditions for user approval
    • Add a CAPTCHA field to your registration forms
    • Block spam IPs

    Hope that helps!
