    Hello all,

    I am working on a new site with no actual members yet.

    Two new sign-ups came in, both from a .RU email address. They were clearly both fake sign-ups (e.g., user put the same name in first and last name fields). I should note that our site’s audience is entirely U.S. based.

    My site is currently set up so that users must be manually approved, which is how I have caught and deleted these fake sign-ups.

    I see that Ultimate Member offers the option to block email addresses or whole TLDs via “*@example.com” . Can I do this for a country code, for example “*.ru”??

    Your help is appreciated.

    Hi @commontater,

    You can create a validation for your email field with custom rules.
    Please check this doc for additional info.

    Alternatively, you can install a security plugin and restrict users by country.

    Regards.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Your link leads to an article about adding custom code. I’m a novice WP user, not a developer, so the suggested solution is not for me.

    It would be a real benefit, I think, for Ultimate Member to include some admin controls for validating new user emails and restricting access.

    Are there security plugins that work well with Ultimate Member?

    Can you suggest security plugin(s) that would restrict users by country?

    Your help is appreciated.

    I am using iQ Block Country for blocking users from specific countries. It has just enough options to cover backend or frontend user blocking from 1 or more countries at the time.

    As a side note, plugin has not been updated for an month now and it states that is compatible up to WP version 5.0.4 (at the moment of typing this reply). I am using WP ver 5.1.1 and it seems that still works fine.

    @justaniceguy – thanks, I’ll check that out.
