• I want to change one of my websites database information, however, this site has been running since April and I have at least 500 pages. I just don’t want to fuck it up. I want to change my database information because when I created my database I used very weak password. Since my website is growing, I thought I should have a strong database password.

Can anyone tell me If it’s possible?

    thanks

  • You’ll need to change it in your hosting/cpanel or however you initially set up your database and then also change it in wp-config.php file that uses that database.

Bare in mind this will affect any sites that you have using this database and you will need to change the config file for all of them. If it’s just a standalone wordpress installation then it will just be the one wp-config.php.

The risk in this is pretty low (you won’t lose your pages – if worse comes to worse you can just change the password back) but i’d always recommend making a backup of the database before you do anything to it.
