• Hi everyone..

These forum and members helped me a lot to build my wordpress site and it was run almost 3 months without any problem. but now it was down due to Hacking and virus injection.

once i seen someone or many tried to log in to my admin area by WP-admin log-in.. so my question is can i change default path “yoursite.com/wp-admin” to “yoursite.com/custom folder/wp-admin” I think this will help to protect who try to get in to admin panel.

I can’t use .htaccess in my wp-admin folder with permition to several IP address because my IP is always changing.

If anyone have good sugggetions and tips to protect wordpress powerd site from hackers I’m so appreciate for it.

    Thank you..

  • @sngsl,
here are a few things i suggest you for making your wordpress blog safe,

    1) update your blog, make sure you are running the latest version of the wordpress installation.
    2) update all plugins, if you are having unused plugins, delete them.
    3) make a separate user id and make sure to use good password and a nickname for public display. the default admin userid is a bit too obvious.
    4) get a secure host, though no host is truly secure, but i have personally moved away from godaddy hosting and now shifted to hostgator.
    5) disable use registration if you don’t need it.
    6) make full site backups, that is database and all file backup and do it regularly…

    cheers,
