Can I change to Friendly Permalinks after using Default?

  • I am using DEFAULT permalinks and would like to change to friendly permalinks in the form of MONTH and NAME.

    Are there any consequences to this?

    Do I need to alert others that are currenly linking to these old url’s?

    Do I need to change the url’s if I am linking to these from /within/ my own blog? What if I am linking to CATEGORIES from a MENUITEM? DO I need to update all of these?

    Are there other issues such as SEO or other things I need to know? I have not seen this in the documentation I have read so far.
