• Apologies for what is likely to be a duplicate question.

I have two WP sites, different Themes. I like a couple of Pages in one site that the other one does not have.

Is there a way of copying a file(s) or even code, from the one theme (folder) to the other theme (folder) so I can use those pages in the other site ?

I will of course factor in any plugins required to support those pages, but my main question is can I just copy something across, like I could for pages in a normal ASP or PHP site ?
Have searched for info/tutorials but can’t seem to find anything.

    thanks in advance

  • Unfortunately, the short answer is ‘no’.

I’m assuming you are talking about copying a page and have it retain the same/similar appearance. The reason you cannot is because you would need to copy not only the ‘code’ (template file) but any dependencies, which could range from CSS styling, other php files, and/or jQuery/javascript, etc.

If you have limited coding experience, your best bet would be to try and replicate the page you like using a page builder such as https://siteorigin.com/page-builder/ available as a WordPress plugin here https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/siteorigin-panels/.

    Hope that helps ??

Thanks Keith, that does help ??

I was sort of hoping that everything associated with a page (template) such as an About page or whatever would be self contained, but did forget that CSS files etc would likely be different.

I will take the route you suggested and try the replication using Visual Composer.

    cheers
    Mark
