• I’m having problems with some spam user account registrations. They are registering fake accounts with different email domains (they started with @mail.ru, but today I found other domains) and these registrations are coming from the wp-login.php?action=register link (so users will have “subscriber” role). I removed these accounts manually and I used Ban Hammer plugin to block some domain but I would like to find a more effective workaround.

Is it safe to disable the option in “General settings” of WordPress for user registration and let only WooCommerce registrations? For “WooCommerce registrations” I mean that users can register their account via “My account” page and the “Checkout” page.

I tried to disable the “General settings” option in a WP offline installation and it seems that the WC registration works correclty, but I’m not sure if this is safe and don’t create problems to WC customers.

    Thanks for any suggestion.

  • Would also be interested in this … i’ll give it a try right now and report back ?? (not 8month later =P)

Checked it … orders work … user reg in ordering process works too… login /logout everything good…

wp-login.php?action=register -> gives Reg not allowed – no more bot regs ??
