Advance settings say: “Enable AMP for your mobile users. Give your visitors a Faster mobile User Experience.”

Can I enable that Advance Setting if I have critical errors?

I don’t think any of my amp pages are being shown, due to critical errors…

    Hey @considerthis1

yes, you can enable Advanced setting even if you have critical errors. It will redirect your mobile users to AMP version of your website.

    hope it helps.

Let us know if you have any questions.

    Hi ampforwp,
what do critical errors mean, then?

    ConsiderThis1,
Critical errors are errors detected by Googlebot that indicate that the amp page it crawled has errors which are non-compliant with the amp standard.

Those errors would prevent Google from presenting that amp page to a user on Google or not indexing that page at all.

It is very important to note that these errors may in fact NOT be errors at all but may be the result of Googlebot having trouble crawling your page for any of a million technical reasons.

When you see a critical error reported in Webmaster Tools you must submit the URL of the amp page to the AMP Project Validator here: https://validator.ampproject.org/

That will give you a “real time” assessment of the page and all you are looking for is either a “Pass” or “Fail.”

If the page passes that test then just ignore the Webmaster Tools error warning. Eventually Googlebot will get back to the site and most likely delete the error entry.

    Hi Lance,
    Thanks. I submitted… and got a FAIL.

As an aside, my desktop pages, which are responsive, are crawled without problem.

    Can you post a URL?

Sure, Thanks. This is my most visited page.

Yesterday someone new put it on Pinterest and I had 5,751 views. That’s the most I’ve ever had. ??

OK, I checked about a dozen of your pages including the Home page and you are getting “Passes” all the way.

Yes there are non-critical errors showing up but they are unimportant and are connected to the fact that AMP as a standard is still evolving so stuff gets added and other stuff gets dropped.

I tested your site without AMP in Google Page Test and it does “OK” for mobile and is compliant however it scares very well for the AMP version so that would indicate you should turn on mobile redirection.

    Hi Lance,
Yes, I was working on structured data and had a problem, so I did some testing on another site of mine and found that it worked fine without the plugin Remove HTTP, and the site was still secure. So I deactivated Remove HTTP on health-boundaries and slowly began to see AMP visitors in my Google Analytics RealTime …

    Happiness!!!!
