Can i get back an earlier version of a pattern?

    I had saved a pattern to reuse it across different pages, but when publishing the last one i accidentally saved a new version of my pattern (template), which seems to be refferenced as “block:49”.

    When browsing the administration of patterns I don’t see any place to check the history for an older version, and hopefully recover from there the other pages that now have the wrong information.
    Do I have any chance to recover the previous version of that block?

    For patterns you’ve created (as opposed to theme defined patterns), revisions are kept, but I don’t see any way to access them via the site editor. When you have the target pattern open for editing, note the “postid” value in the URL. This is your pattern’s ID.

    You can find revisions by using the phpMyAdmin app, usually accessed through your hosting account. In the app, navigate to your WP DB. Open the wp_posts table. (the “wp_” part of the table name may vary). Click the search tab. Scroll down to the “post_parent” item and enter your pattern’s ID in the adjacent box. At the bottom of the page click “Go”. Any revisions to the pattern ID you searched for will be listed.

    It’s feasible in the app to copy the revision’s content to the main pattern’s record. The problem is you cannot see what the revision really looks like. All you can see is the pattern’s HTML source code. If you do overwrite the main pattern’s content with that of a revision, this is an irreversible process. Meddling with data via phpMyAdmin is a risky proposition. You should make a reliable backup of the tables you intend to change before proceeding.
