Can i go back to reCaptcha v2 with Contact Form 7 5.1?

    Since I upgraded to Contact Form 7 version 5.1 and to reCaptcha version 3 (a requirement of Contact Form 7 version 5.1) on 11 of my sites, spam is coming in through their contact forms. I want to stop this ASAP. Until I know more about how to deploy version 3 effectively, I would like to go back to using recaptcha version 2. But can I do that with Contact Form 7 5.1?

    I tried (deleted the v3 keys and recreated new v2 keys and entered them into the Contact Form 7 Integration dialog), but the reCaptcha prompt does not display in my contact form again (as it had before I went to reCaptcha version 3).

    Am I missing something right in front of my nose?

  • @susantau, I too have rolled back to version 5.0.5, in order to have ReCaptcha v2 working again. Thanks for providing an URL to where to get the previous version of Contact Form.
    I’m having a hard time to understand how Google see version 3 as better than version 2, when it in reality is so much worse.
    The easiest solution is of course, that Contact Form would support both versions.
    Maybe we’ll se that in a future release, so I can stop ignoring the update badge in WP ??

    The plugin author has made his decision known that he is not going to add an option for ReCaptcha version 2 in any future update. You can read that in this thread here:

    Ninja Forms and WPForms Lite have been recommended to me as possible good replacements. I haven’t decided yet which to use.
