I’m designing a website for a client who is an artist with many pieces of art. He wants to have 2 tabs: 1 is a portfolio which shows all of his pieces (there are about 50), and the other is a shop by category/product page.

In order to show all the pieces nicely on the portfolio page, I need to create it as a gallery, so that there are 3 pictures of the same size in a row (he likes that format).

Now, what he wants to do is be able to click on any of the pictures in the gallery and have it bring you to the product page (in effect, you could reach the purchase page either via the shop page or thru the gallery). I don’t see any way to make these photos clickable (i.e. provide a link to the product page). Am I missing something, or do you know of a plug-in that might give me this capabiity? TIA

    Hello @cherylaz,

From your description, it sounds like WooCommerce should do the trick.

The “gallery” on the homepage can be done through using WooCommerce Product Blocks (found in default WooCommerce) on a page and setting that page to your homepage using WordPress page settings. This will then link to your previously set up WooCommerce products.

Then you can set up your store settings to show only categories of products on your shop page. This can be done by going to: WP Admin > Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Catalog and ensuring that Shop Page Display is set to “Show Categories”.

Hopefully that will sort you out!

I did that to set up the Shop by Subject tab (which is where the shop page lands). That doesn’t solve the problem of adding a link to the photos on the portfolio page to link to where the product can be found on the shopping page.
