    Hello,

i have a blog at wordpress.com and, now that I have a host, i would like to transfer everything (look, posts, etc…).

I did install wordpress on my new host and export a xml file from my old blog that i then imported to the new one.

It just doesnt look the same.

How can I get an exact copy?

    Thx

You cannot get an *exact* copy.

The Export/Import is for transferring the content of the blog. But the *look* of it is something you can adjust as you see fit. Find a theme that matches what you had before and install it. Then edit it to be as custom as you want. That sort of thing.

    ah ok, thanks.

I’m usually using a theme called Contempt. I’ve installed it but there’s options that were on the online version that seem not to be available when one install wordpress on a separate host. For instance, i’m lookink for an option called “sidebar widgets” that allows me to remove all these dozens of links on the right side. what can i do?

I just imported my blog from deepsblog.wordpress.com to a hosted deepsblog.com. Now I have 2 blogs with the same content. How do I redirect any clicks from the old deepsblog.wordpress.com pages to the new blog?

I’m starting out with blogging and was considering creating my blog at wordpress.com. May I ask why you are moving away from wordpress.com?
