• I have an existing site with it’s own home-grown user authentication that I want to add WP and bbPress to. The thing is I don’t want users to login to the site and then have to login to the forum/blog also.

I’m wondering if there is a WP function that my website can call, hand off the user information and have WP do it’s usual login/cookie stuff at the same time the user logs into the site? And creating that cookie once sufficient or does WP continue to check the cookie info against the user table during the user’s session?

Hm. No ideas? I was hoping to hear from someone who knows the ins and outs of the WP user auth code. At a high level, how does the WP login process go and what are the major functions involved?
