Recently got notice from my host that there’s an infection on the site and after contacting customer service, they advised me to take a look at the file “http_error_log.txt” which seems to be in the BPS folder. I’m wondering if I can completely delete the contents of this file without breaking anything.

The file itself contains a long list of hack attempt data, most of which occurred on the same day. Should I be doing anything with this information?

Yep, you can safely delete the Security Log file contents and turn Off Security Logging. If you need to temporarily turn On the Security Log for troubleshooting at some later time then you can turn Security Logging on temporarily to do troubleshooting. BPS Pro regularly uses the Security Log file contents to automatically create Plugin Firewall whitelist rules in real time, but BPS free does not have the Plugin Firewall security feature.

Go to the BPS Security Log page.
    Click the Delete Log button.
Click the Turn Off Logging button.
