• I’m really struggling to update an old website with a new theme that uses project nami and everything is out of date. When I update the theme there is lots of random hard code all over it as well as errors.

Can I still create a half decent website?

I’m using a website that has:

An old version of project nami (I think) – no login for this
An old version of WordPress (5.3 instead of 5.8) – no FTP login
An out of date Divi theme 2.7.3 (instead of 4.10.4) subscription has expired and there is no visual editor
Can’t login on Chrome so I’m editing in MS Edge
Can’t view in MS Edge so I have to view website in Chrome

The biggest issue is project nami. I can push to get the FTP but would this be enough? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Emma

  • WordPress requires MySQL (and MySQL flavours like MariaDB or PercornaDB).

Project Nami is a re-work of WordPress to support Microsoft’s SQL Server. Lots of plugins (and some themes) will be broken and never work as a direct result of the changes made in Project Nami (to get WordPress core working with MS SQL server). These are documented by the Project Nami team themselves here: https://projectnami.org/plugin-compatibility/

Users are, of course, free to use whatever they want. But I hope you’ll appreciate that the WordPress project and community cannot support any 3rd-party modifications and unsupported platforms.

My candid advice is to migrate to a supported platform (MySQL or MariaDB) if you can. If you can’t, please get in touch with the Project Nami folks to see if they can help you resolve this.

    Good luck!
