can I successfully update a theme on localhost by doing this?

    so I have wp-content/themes/theme-1

    I want to replace theme-1 with the theme-1 update file. Can I just delete theme-1 then replace it with the new file so it will be

    wp-content/themes/theme-1-update?

  • Hey there,

    Yes you can do that. But make a backup first, just in case you lose theme customization if you’re not using a child theme. And also make sure theme directory remains same, that is if the old theme was in the directory /wp-content/themes/theme-1 then new theme should also be in /wp-content/themes/theme-1 exactly. Hope it helps.
