    Hi

When I try to log into my blog at
publishsarah.com/wp-admin I am not brought to the dashboard but rather the login box just appears again.

When I go to the home page of the blog and scroll to the bottom I can see ‘log out’ so it appears I am logged in.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem and be able to access the dashboard again.

I last made a posting on 12 Dec and no changes have been made to the blog except for an upgrade to 2.7

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Here’s some things to try:
    1. logout or logout with https://www.yourdomain.com/wp-login.php?loggedout=true
    2. clear cookies
    3. exit browser
    4. make sure local firewall is not causing problem
    5. login with https://www.yourdomain.com/wp-login.php
    6. disable all plugins–if necessary read How to deactivate all plugins when not able to access the administrative menus?

If WordPress is installed in something other than the root folder please take that into account for the above url examples

Please let us know what does solve your problem.

    Hi

    I tried steps 1-4 and I still couldn’t login.

However…when I disabled the plugins (by renaming the folder) I could login. I renamed plugins.hold back to plugins and again I could not login again.

Is this an issue with a plugin?

    What should I do next?

    Many thanks for your help.

I have a similar problem. I can login to WP using my client’s login details but he cannot. It takes him back to the log in screen (he did get as far as the control panel once). I’ve tried setting him up again as a new user and again, I can login as him, but he can’t.

I’m on Windows XP with Firefox. He’s on Vista with Firefox and he’s using a plugin to manage passwords – but he’s been using that for a long time without issue

    Any ideas?

@tinggg – activate plugins, one-by-one, to find which causes the problem.

Please report back if you determine what plugin is causing the problem.

@ransomme – please start another thread with that question.

    Hi

It was the simple-tags plugin. Once identified, I deleted it and installed the latest version and everything worked fine.

Thanks very much for your help.

    install wp again
