Can no longer add emoji to post titles

I use emojis to categorize the posts on my blog and up until two days ago had no trouble adding an emoji to the title of each post. Upon creating a post today I run into the error message “Updating failed. Could not insert post into the database.” each time I try to save the post with an emoji in the title. I can update the post and make any changes I want without issue, but once an emoji appears in the title the post cannot be updated.
To my knowledge, the only action I have performed in the last two days was to login to my account using the WordPress iPhone app. To do this, I had to create an app password on my WordPress account. After I successfully logged in I could see details and settings for the blog indicating I was indeed authenticated, but no matter how long I waited no posts would ever load. It was eternally stuck on “Fetching posts”. I have disconnected my account from the WordPress app, yet nothing has changed.
