Can no longer edit files!

  • Ever since I updated to 3.1.2, I can no longer edit any of my files… (CSS, phps… etc)

    I accidentally changed something on my site: the banner used to be closer to the top of the page, and clickable (taking back to the home page). I remember tinkering with the code to get this right, but have forgotten what I did, and now can’t edit my files anyway!

    I was trying to put the title of my site and subtitle in the html so that it would be read by search engines, but I don’t want these things displayed as they are in the default – I just want the banner to be visible.

    (I’m also having problems changing the page slugs. I don’t have the ‘edit’ button under the page titles when in edit mode. I just get taken to the change permalinks settings page, and can’t do any custom changes because my .htaccess files don’t contain permission. I tried creating this file and adding the suggested code, uploading it through Filezilla, but it didn’t work and I just got error messages.)

    I’ve been trying to fix these issues all week. Help would be appreciated!
