Can no longer get to admin screen

  • I’m on a network that uses dynamic IP Addresses and entered the IP Address of the machine I installed WP on when I configured it. Now the IP of that machine has changed and I can’t get to the admin page in a browser. Is there a file I can edit to point to the new IP Address?

  • RFrenette, you can configure the IP by going to .htaccess of your wp-admin folder.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I went to the wp-admin folder but there is no .htaccess file there. (It’s not that it’s hidden, it’s just not there.) I don’t have a problem creating the file, I’m just not sure what to put in it to change the IP Address.

    Fixed it.

    Actually went into the DB and edited the siteurl field in wp_options table.
