Can no longer select sections w/o navigator

My apologies—I only now read the sticky post about things to do before submitting a ticket. Please ignore this ticket until I go through those steps, then I’ll report back. Sorry for my confusion.

I’m not sure if this happened in the most recent update or the previous one, but I can no longer select sections without having to select them in the Navigator.
I can select elements inside sections, but not the sections themselves. This is maddening because I use the right-click menu (by directly selecting the section) ALL THE TIME!
It is unbelievably time-consuming and painful to have to first select an element in the section I want to select, then go to the Navigator to select the section and edit it.
If it was only once in a while, no big deal. But I need to select and edit sections every few minutes to edit some of my more complex posts.
Please help!
PS I am on the latest version of Elementor. When I rolled back to an earlier version (when I knew the section selection function was still working) it didn’t fix the issue. ??
