can not correctly connect to the server

    After using Crop-Thumbnails for a few months successfully, it has suddenly stopped working yesterday on my site. After clicking the Save Crop button a pop-up appears, saying ‘The plugin can not correctly connect to the server”, and the cropped image is not saved.

    The console log does not help much either. The crop-thumbnails connection error object gives status “403” with the text “error” (Chrome) or “Forbidden” (Firefox) for the request for /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php.

    The web server is “Lite Speed” – I wonder if something has changed on the server side because it worked fine a few days ago.

    Also, I wonder if this may have to do with LiteSpeed cache plugin which is used, or perhaps with the Wordfence plugin.

    Any ideas?
