Can not edit content/images in Home Page

So all the content/images/links/background images on my “Home” page are just fine… but I’d really like to edit a few of the images and add title tags etc for more seo boost… but I can’t seem to find the home page to edit! Other pages I can find in the backend of wordpress under the pages tab or even on the front end; for example, from the “About” page there is the black wordpress toolbar and I’m always able to go directly to the back end of that specific page and edit any content from the “edit page” tab on the toolbar. My home page doesn’t have this option in it’s wordpress toolbar… and like I said before, the home page is also missing from where all the other pages are in the pages tab.

Another forum member suggested you can locate and edit the home page by this method: “Home is called index.php You can edit it under Theme/Editor then click on index.php”

This didn’t work for me either. I couldn’t find “index.php” in my theme/editor so that information helped very little. Is there somewhere else this page could possibly be or is there an alternative way to edit the content on each page (or at least the home page) from the front end of things or another method I’m not currently using?
